The practical component in Australia

Five weeks combining simulation and real aged care placement.

What the five weeks look like

  1. Week 1

    Three simulation days, Wednesday to Friday, 7 hours each, at our Caboolture South Campus.

  2. Weeks 2–4

    Placement Monday to Friday, 8.5 hours per day, in an aged care facility.

  3. Week 5

    Certificate finalisation. Optional if you choose an emailed certificate.

Simulation days at Caboolture South Campus

All simulation sessions are held at our Caboolture South Campus, Queensland.

  • 3 days, 7 hours each
  • About 45 km from Brisbane Airport — roughly 40 minutes by car

All completed as hands-on simulated exercises.

Where your placement will be

  • Placements are concentrated in South East Queensland (SEQLD).
  • Want somewhere else in Australia? Tell us your preference no later than Week 12 of the program.
  • We will request your preferred area, but we can't promise it.

Uniform and ID

  • You'll receive 1 Equinox student shirt and an ID badge.
  • Extra shirts cost $35 each.

Week 5: getting your certificate

After your placement, the college admin team works tirelessly to make sure you've met every requirement of the qualification so your certificate can be issued.

Prefer to head home? If you don't need a hard copy, we can email your certificate — and you won't need to stay for Week 5.

How allocation works

  • Rank the five options from 1 to 5.
  • Allocation is confirmed at Session 14, subject to availability, progress and placement readiness.
  • Placement must start within 6 months of completing theory.
Important: wait for written confirmation of your SimPrac allocation before applying for a visa or booking flights or accommodation.
