The qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, empowering people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation, and wellbeing.

Workers work without direct supervision, may supervise and coordinate a small team, and promote a person-centred approach.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must complete 120 hours of work as detailed by the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency: https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/CHC43115

Students who are able to practice on the appropriate equipment for a given job will be better prepared for the workforce upon graduation.

After successfully completing this course, you may find employment in the following roles:

Senior Support Worker

The role of a Senior Support Worker can be varied and exciting. The Senior Support Worker may be responsible for leading the staff and managing clients for a particular function in disability care.

You may be required to:

Lead and supervise other Support Workers
Assist in the assessment and preparation of client’s care plans
Conduct Work Health and Safety inspections
Manage the service delivery and support services to clients and
Closely collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team

Service Facilitator

As a Service Facilitator, you may be required to conduct in-home face-to-face home support assessments with clients using standardised assessment processes on a daily basis.

You will work together with clients to develop individualized support plans and to match and refer clients to appropriate support services, thereby helping them to achieve wellness and healthy ageing goals.
