Discover Your Learning Journey with Equinox College.
Welcome to Equinox College and thank you for considering joining us and trusting us with your learning journey. This information sheet provides a general overview of how Equinox College will facilitate different phases in your learning journey, from enquiring about our programs to enrolling and through to completing your course. We want your experience with Equinox College to be a positive experience and we endeavour to meet your learning expectations throughout.
Below are the definitions of different types of students throughout the student journey:
The Enquirer
The ‘Enquirer’ is a person who is researching the best possible program, possibly with a number of other training providers. They will want to know information such as:
Believe it or not but money generally isn’t the deciding factor for vocational education, reputation and class dates and times are.
Whilst we have very reasonable course fees, we count on our reputation as one of the best providers in the local area.
Equinox College offers many opportunities to provide a potential student with up to date, accurate, and factual information about our learning programs.
Our programs may be advertised in local businesses, on Social Media, through our relationships with Job Active Network members, and hopefully through word of mouth.
A potential student can:
It is important to us that you speak with one of our staff, to be sure that the program you are enquiring about is right for you.
The Course Applicant
The ‘Course Applicant’ is a person who has completed all our enrolment documentation, provided the required identification and has paid their course enrolment fee.
An enrolment application will begin once a potential student applies for enrolment into their selected course by completing a Student Enrolment Form and makes payment for their course.
If you are enrolling and cannot make it to our office our Admin Team will contact you to discuss the enrolment, prior to the enrolment being processed, again this is to assure that the applicant is enrolling to the most relevant program that meets their goals.
The Equinox Student
The ‘Equinox Student’ is a person who has received a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) and is ready to commence or has commenced their program.
Once the application has been received, the applicant will receive an email with additional information such:
As some of our courses are face to face and some are studied through our online learning portal, new students will receive an induction, either on the first day of a face to face class or by appointment with your trainer prior to the commencement date of the program.
Each new student will be designated a trainer and that trainer will provide each student with contact details and appropriate hours of contact. Support may come in the form of one-on-one face to face support (by appointment with a trainer), regular phone and email contact, through our Private Facebook Groups, via webinars organised by your trainer.
Our aim is to build a solid rapport with each new student to ensure their experience with Equinox College is as rewarding as possible.
Each student has access to one of Equinox College’s portals (dependent on mode of study), which gives the new student the opportunity to participate in online discussion. Student’s also have access to pre-recorded webinars through the Equinox College portal. Our team of trainers are available for support by email or telephone during business hours and will provide guidance and encouragement for the course.
Each student will be required to complete formal assessments within their course. The assessment tasks should be attempted once the student has received sufficient training. The assessment tasks have been specifically designed to measure the student’s competency against the national standards for the relevant unit/s. The assessment tasks can include written questions, case studies, and projects. Depending on the project, the student will be required to seek assistance from friends, family, or colleagues to participate in the projects.
Once an assessment has been submitted, one of the trainers will provide clear and constructive feedback. If gaps are identified in the student’s knowledge or skills, the trainer who assessed the student’s assessment will provide guidance on what adjustments are necessary for a successful outcome. The student can discuss their feedback with the trainer via phone or email if required.
Some of our training programs require a vocational placement to be completed. If a program requires a vocational placement, this information/requirement is clearly summarised in our marketing material and fully explained in out course information guides and enrolment applications.
The Equinox Graduate
The ‘Equinox Graduate’ is a person who has successfully completed their training program, fulfilled all course requirements and are issued with a Certificate of Completion, and attends a class graduation.
Once a student has fulfilled all the requirements of the training program, they are deemed competent and are awarded a nationally recognised qualification (if applicable). The completed student will receive a hard copy of their official certification within 30 calendar days of fulfilling all course requirements.
We hold regular graduation events. Where graduates are able to come along to share in food and drink and network with other graduates.
We ask all graduates sincerely to complete our feedback forms. We value the feedback, good, bad and ugly. We really want to continuously improve our programs and services.
